What Ending One Relationship Taught Me About Building Everything Else

Once upon a time, I was almost in a relationship with 300 pounds.
We flirted. We got real close. Closer than I ever planned.

But instead of committing, I let it go.

So far, I’ve released 100 pounds—and I’ve got about 25 more to release. And no, it didn’t start with motivation, a challenge, or some dramatic “new year, new me” moment. It started with pain. A gallbladder attack that forced me to change the way I ate simply so I wouldn’t hurt anymore.

That was the first domino.

I changed how I ate to avoid pain… and then I started stacking tiny, boring, unsexy habits on top of that decision.

I drink water. That’s it.
I drink mushroom coffee instead of the sugar-loaded stuff.
I gave up processed food.
I swapped candy and snacks for grapes and bananas.
I wake up every day between 2:30 and 3:00 a.m.

I’m in a committed relationship with my sleep—and I’m working on building that same kind of relationship with the gym.

None of this happened overnight. None of it was flashy. It wasn’t about willpower or punishment. It was about alignment. About choosing the next right thing, even when it felt boring or inconvenient.

And that’s the part people miss.

The biggest transformations usually start with the smallest, most ordinary decision—like deciding to get up earlier. When you do that one thing consistently, the rest starts to domino. One habit makes room for another. One win builds momentum. One shift opens capacity.

Because of these changes, I don’t just feel better—I operate better.

I have more energy. More clarity. More bandwidth.

And that means I get to show up fully for my businesses in a way I couldn’t before. I can lead, build, problem-solve, and create at a higher level—for my clients, my teams, and myself.

This isn’t just about weight.
It’s about building a life that actually supports the work you’re meant to do.

So if you’ve been waiting for the “perfect time” to change something, consider this your reminder: start small. Start boring. Start where you are.

And if part of what you need right now is help building, fixing, digging, or creating something solid—yeah, I do that too.

Do you need some work done?

Let’s build. 💪
